Act of Kindness - Joe Version

Joining Kate again this week with my weekly act of kindness observation. This week's is from an experience Joe had just yesterday.

Joe is so full of personality ~


He makes friends everywhere he goes and trusts everyone. This is so outside my comfort zone as I am quite the introvert, but watching life through his eyes is amazing.


Yesterday my mom took him to a fast food restaurant for lunch (don't worry, he did get some healthy food). In his lunch was a batman toy. He wanted to bring it up into the play place to show the slide. No, not show batman the slide, but rather show the slide batman. Don't ask ~ he's 3. So there was a kid up there that wanted to meet and hold batman, so being the kid he is, Joe shared batman with this boy. After a few minutes.... errr.... seconds, Joe ran off to play on some other part of the contraption.

A while later Joe was playing with a boy named Jake. Joe realized that batman was missing and started looking for him. Jake joined in and they scaled that place from top to bottom. When batman never showed up, Jake went over and got the toy out of his lunch and gave it to Joe!! How sweet is that?? Mom thinks Jake is around 5'ish. What a great kid. I hope he is like that all his life. And so now Joe has a robin toy that he call's Jake's. So hopefully he will never forget how he got that toy. Never before has one of those cheap a** meal toys been so priceless!

Act of Kindness 3.25.11

Again this week I am joing Kate and writing about a random act of kindness.

Mine may seem very little to you, but to me it was huge. It was huge because it came from Ryan. Ryan is my oldest. Ryan is 14. 14 is a teenager. I know you remember what it was like to be a teenager. Teenagers aren't always nice.

Ryan is a great kid. He isn't perfect by any means, but in the grand scheme of things, he is a great kid. He's been on spring break this week and so I took a few days off to spend time with him and the littles.

It was like pulling teeth, but I was able to get him out of the house with me and his siblings for an afternoon at the largest mall in America. I was so happy that I 'forced' him to come as we really had a good time and he was a huge help. He always made sure that Joe was holding his hand, or holding Teaghan so I could go to the salad bar, or the biggest - holding the door for us and strangers. And he just does it so naturally. Such a big heart.

Act of Kindness - 3.18.11

I am joining up with Kate to reflect on the Lenten season in a new light. In the light of kindness to others. Kate's request is that we document an act of kindness that we have witnessed or taken part in.

This week has been full of international acts of kindness in the after effects of the quake/tsunami/nuclear reactor situation in Japan. Watching that country pull together and hold each other up has been amazing. There have been no reports of looting or taking advantage of one's neighbor. This impresses me to no end. And then of course you have so many countries pulling together money and aid to help them out.

Closer to home this week has been the annual food drive at work. My co-workers have been busy pulling together raffles, auctions, Wii tournaments, drop boxes, you name it, in order to help stock the dwindling food shelves in our area. The number of people that rely on food shelves these days, whether it is a one time thing or an ongoing basis, continues to rise. It has felt good to be a small part of helping a large situation.
